A contribution to the problem of methanol utilization by fungi
1979 (English)Report (Other academic)
Abstract [sv]

The possibility of using mehanol for production of SCP (Single Cell Protein) was investigated. The fungi were isolated from the condensate and the sludge received from Nymölla. The ability of the fungi to oxidize methanol was investigated in the Sapromat apparatus and with the Clark oxygen electrode. The growth of the fungi ws investigated in a fermentor 'Model 19' and in a Schott-Kluyver-type aerator. The content of methanol in the medium was maximally in per cent v/v, and the yield of the fungus-probably Gliocladium deliquescens or Paecilomyces carnesu - was 0.041 g of dry mass per g of methanol. ! table, 7 figures, 22 referneces
