The deposition over the Nordic countries was mapped as a part of the work within ECE on mapping critical load and exceedances of critical load over Europe, and was partly funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The main purpose of this joint Nordic effort was to map total deposition using avilable data from measurements of precipitation, ambient air quality and throughfall. Data from national networks were combined in order to avoid discontinuities along the national borders
