Abstract [en]

The transport of passengers and freight around the world has increased dramatically in recent decades. According to Ganapati and Wong (2023) [1], the amount of ton–kilometers has increased eight-fold since the 1960s and even two-fold when corrected for the increase in the world’s gross domestic product. This Editorial introduces the journal special issue 'Transport Emissions and Their Environmental Impact' addressing the following topics: 1. Air Pollutants and Greenhouse Gas Emissions from the Transport Sector 2. Emission Reduction Measures 3. New Results on Transport Emissions and Their Environmental Impact 4. Key Challenges for Future Research
